1st of all, I have gotten a whole week to spend with the love of my life. Definitely a plus!
2nd of all, I'm easy to please in my opinion. Some people people may argue that but that's for another blog. So, when we thought the weather was too crappy for camping, I came up with this fabulous idea! I thought, if the nights will be cold but we could run into some nice weather then we should still go somewhere. My solution: Duck Mountain in a CABIN! This way, whether the weather is nice or not, we could still go on the trails by day and sleep in a warm cabin by night! Great idea, right? RIGHT!
3rd of all, I'm getting paid to NOT be at work so alone, I should just relish in that fact alone.
Now for the downers. :(
1st of all, before we left, Keith and I had been feeling under the weather but Keith got the worst of it. He was feeling icky all over and I should have known better than to drag him out on an 'adventure' with me. But in my defence, he said he was feeling better and was up for going. When we got to Duck Mountain, the day went well. We went for a walk up to the lodge, when for a swim in the pool at the lodge and enjoyed their hot tub. WHICH, do I have a picture for you! I'll have to take one and post it as a follow up. You, my dear readers aren't even going to believe it. My bathing suit, where the skirt part usually falls just below my hips, now comes down to my ANKLES! I don't know wtf they put in the hot tub for chemicals but it blew my bathing suit to shyte.
That night we slept well and woke up the next morning ready to do whatever the day ahead brought to us. The sun was actually shining so we opted to go on a hiking trail. Now, Keith being Keith picked the 'almost' hardest trail out of all of our options. WHICH, kind of irritated me 'cause I'm thinking, dude, we be on vacay and I don't want to break my back but me being the 'trooper' I am went any way. Now this was all fine and dandy and I really felt myself getting a good workout but at the same time, felt like I might die. One word of advice, one hour at the gym a day does NOT prepare you for almost four hours of walking/hiking whether it be on land, dirt, mud, rock, marsh, or quicksand. At some point in our journey we reached a fork in the path, just before that fork was what resembled marshland since there has been so much rain. Keith didn't even stop and just walked on across it. I, on the other hand, hesitated and said 'Do you really think we should keep going'?
I mean, we had already encountered such marshy parts that I was just like, it keeps getting worse and I don't want to be stuck in the middle of this trail where bears can come eat me 'cause I'm like a WHOPPER to them! They like their humans just like we like our burgers. BIG, FAT and JUICY! lol.
Keith's response was 'Well, I made it across' which I'm like thinking in my head: Well yeah, but like I out-weigh by 500 pounds so SHUT IT! But I didn't say that, I just thought: GO FOR IT! So I did and SHOCKER, my ENTIRE left leg sunk into the mud/marsh which was kind of like quicksand. In response I immediately tried to pull my leg out but it wasn't coming out with my runner still on. I thought, screw this, I either lose my runner or get stuck here entirely with Keith having to get one of those emergency helicopter teams to pull me out. In the meantime I would just have to sit there waiting with my nothing but my head sticking out for the bears to eat. EEP! Any logical person would have done the same thing. I was like F U runner, it's been grand but I would prefer to keep my legs and my head! I managed to heave myself out by using my whole left side as leverage which concerned me because if my right side went down into the marsh, so could my left. :s
Note: Keith just stood there watching me! LOL!
Once my body was back on 'level' ground I turned around and BOOTED my chass out of there and didn't look back until I was on solid ground. PHEW! Keith, my 'hero', took a moment to retrieve my runner which looked like this:
After this whole fiasco and us laughing for five minutes about the whole thing, I decided to pull 'princess' and suggested we got some good walking in and that it was time we head back.
Upon our return, we went hot tubing and swimming again which was great because I was SO-ORE! Following that, we made a really nice supper and cuddled up by the fire which I didn't get any pics of because they never turn out. That night we did some light reading and then headed for what I thought would be a good night's sleep. However, I woke up to Keith coughing really bad which had us both up a majority of the night. When morning rolled around, I turned to him and said 'Let's take you home' and he agreed (poor guy).
As I was packing up the truck I was running in and out of the cabin to make the 11am check-out time. At one point I came in and Keith had something in his hand that I thought he had found in one of the drawers so I asked him what he found. He shook his head and said 'It's for you' so I looked at it, opened it up and found this:
That's right! It's a cool green colored pocket knife! On the little knife it says 'Kim' and on the other side it has two hearts. Now some girls want bling but I'm not that kind of girl!!! I've already used that cute little pocket knife three times since I got it and I love it! Most of all I love it for the reason why Keith got it for me: It will come in handy to open difficult packages (I do have issues when it comes to opening packages - my teeth aren't what they used to be) and for if anyone harasses me outside my workplace. :)
After that, we headed back home to Regina and are currently doing whatever the **** we want 'cause I'm on vacay BEHBEH! Mini-honeymoon, perhaps....but I do see me putting in some effort to celebrate our second honeymoon sooner than later.lol.
