It's good to be back...

It's good to be back on the NET!

I think that Keith and I should get a medal for surviving 3 and a HALF days without the internet. It was horrible, we actually had to kill time by actually doing things together. NAH, JUST KIDDING! lol. It was really quite nice not to have the distraction of the net especially while I was on holidays. I was forced to go out and do stuff instead of mindlessly perusing the world wide web!

I'd like to say that on my outings I did some productive things but then I'd be a liar. Hhhmmm, then again, I had no witnesses to argue that I wasn't productive....in THAT case - I WAS productive. teehee.

Meh, you can judge for yourselves. :) I spent one day drinking wine, eating cupcakes and crap while watching movies with a good friend. We watched 'The Hangover' and had some good laughs. I forgot how rindonkulous that movie is but I mean that in a good way. Every time I think of the one character realizing he's missing a tooth, I giggle uncontrollably - I may or may not have peed a little. :s

Another night Keith and I went out for supper with my best gal pal of all time and her husband who's like my brother from another mother. It was really nice because we rarely go out and wine and dine ourselves. Plus, the food was delish and D & R were great to visit with. Usually when we get together since we're all so short on time it's a gong show of friends and kids which is always fun and entertaining. However, this one time, I was a wee bit selfish and loved having the two of them to ourselves. :)

Yesterday, I went furniture shopping with my gal pal Flynns and she picked out a new bed set so like how JEALOUS am I?! Oh how I long for the day when we get a bigger place and I can redecorate and buy pretty things and paint and make a nice comfy home for us. But that's like FOREVER away so enough of that pipe dream for the time being. I did notice one thing though, furniture seems to have gone down in price which is like YAY! So if any of you are looking to buy, now is the time to go. I believe The Brick is doing a sale tomorrow where it's 20% off! If only I had the mo...okay okay, I'll stop. I mean, I'm not bitter at aaaalllll about how I can't get the couch I would marry if it were legal. Oh, and of course if I wasn't married to Keith. :)
Although, it's hard to resist wanting a guy THIS adorable when he sleeps. (honey, please forgive me but I just haaad to). I could honestly just HUG ATTACK him when I see him like this!

And while Keith rested just like he is in the the picture above this morning, I handled our internet, our prrreeecious getting hooked back up. Really, all I had to do was answer the phone when they called at 8am but still, 8am - don't these people realize I'm on VACAY baaaaabeeeee?!

Speaking of my vacay, it's almost over which is a little sad. I kind of feel like I just had a long weekend and it's only 2 more days till I'm back to work. However, I am thankful that I had a week to just do whatever I wanted when I wanted. I got some good visiting in, some great R&R in and of course, I got to enjoy lots of food and wine. teehee. I'm also thankful that I had the week off because apparently I'd come down with a case of insomnia for a few nights in a row. No shocker there since I occasionally go through periods of insomnia which can easily drive a person batty. I'm used to the lack of sleep but I guess I'll never get used to random nights of trying to sleep and getting so angry about not being able to sleep that I end up unbelievably frustrated. Buuuut, that's a story for another time! I think I'm well on my way to getting my internet 'fill' for the day.

LATA! :)

First two days of my vacay 'excursions'...

Aight, so here's the lowdown! I have been BEGGING anyone that goes to Clear Lake, Manitoba to bring me back some cinnamon buns from the bakery! And oh, how it finally paid off! (It only took say, oh, about 5 years.lol.) However, my ANGEL of a friend J.G. texted me yesterday and said 'Hey, I got you a couple of cinnamon buns, when can I drop them off'? I was like, 'Um, please tell me you're actually downstairs right now ready to buzz me with the goods'!!! Okay, I didn't say that but I thought it. I can't even try to describe how absolutely yummy and scrumptious they are! I mean, even after a day in a vehicle they were a delight but OOOHHH, to have them fresh from the bakery - I think I would DIE! So, in a way it's a good thing they were not-so-fresh when they got here. I mean, I CAPITAL L-O-V-E them, but I would prefer not to die.lol.

Today my friend Jenn D and I headed to Moose Jaw for some shopping and wondering aimlessly. After trying the slots at the Moose Jaw Casino (and sucking at it), we went to check out the local shops and when I say local shops, I mean the one store with all the yummy fudge. And of course, I bought fudge - chocolate mint to be exact. I cannot wait to get my sweet tooth into it but it will have to wait. Why? Because if there's a trip to Moose Jaw, there's a trip to the Deja Vu cafe which means I had a milkshake and (lowers head in shame) wings.
EEP - this vacay = WEIGHT GAIN! :s

Anyway, after Moose Jaw we headed to Buffalo Pound and NNNNOOOO, we DID not get lost even though we overlooked a sign right in front of us but we thought we were going the wrong way so we turned around and drove passed a sign that had an arrow pointing in the same direction we just turned away from saying 'Buffalo Pound' and when we turned back from the actual wrong direction and saw the sign that we totally overlooked I did not say 'NnNnNnOoOoO' shaking my fist in the air. Pfft, that SO did NOT happen. teehee.
So yeah, after not getting lost - we got to the beach and hung out on the lawn and got some suuun. FINALLY! :)

Then after baking for 20 on one side and flipping and baking on the other side, we went for a stroll. A short, but perfect stroll. Along the way as we're yapping Jenn D randomly shouted 'A SNAKE - KIIIIM, A SNAKE'!!! Thank goodness she did because I was juuuust about to step on a creepy crawly snake. I handled myself pretty well though as I only jumped maybe a foot in the air and yelped only a little.lol. I didn't have my camera so we went back to the truck to get it and in the safety of the truck we drove back to where it was. Jenn D took pictures and DID not toss some rocks at it to see if it was dead.lol. Okay, she did toss a few teeny tiny rocks at it to see if it would budge and it didn't. Dead or alive, I would have FAAAAH-REAKED if I stepped on it. Apparently, and this may or may not be true, but the more colorful a snake is, the more poinsonous it is. Check out the colors on this MF! :s

Alas, I am alive and perhaps the snake is or is not. Although, it really is a shame. As much as snakes creep the SHYTE outta me, it is kind of beautiful in a 'Lady Gaga with makeup on' sorta way. OH SNAP! lol.

GOTCHA!

I bet you guys thought that was all I was going to type in my previous blog. But nope, I tricked you. I'm still here but yes, I'M ON VACAY BEBE! :)

So far I started my holiday off by going to watch some friends tie the knot last night after work. It was a beautiful night but not as beautiful as mine and Keith's wedding but that's only because I'm bias. lol.

This morning I have attacked the dishes and managed to clean out two cupboards that were overridden with Tupperware and random crap. I wanted to get it out of the way so that I don't spend my entire vacay cleaning and purging and rearranging and etc.

So here I am mapping out my time and it goes a little something like this:

Eat
Nooky
Nap
Boom Boom
Sing like I sound like Lady Gaga (and perhaaaps like I look like her) :s
Eat
Lovin'
Moose Jaw
Bake? (maybe)
Do the Tango while eating cookies
Eat
Huggin'
Sleep
Movies
Dance around Condo like I'm have a grasshopper in my pants
Buffalo Pound
Nap
Kissin'
Some cleaning and laundry? (maybe) teehee
More Boom Boom

*And above all else - random stuff that puts a smile on my face.

If I do anything uber fun you will be sure to see pics.

Cheers everyone and have a wonderful week!
Love
Kim

ps. OH, and of course DRINKS will be had because my wonderful husband bought me a BIG BAG O' BOOZE to work on while I'm off. Nobody knows me better. Thanks love!

I'm on VAAACAAAY!

'Nuff said! lol.

Marley + ice cream = ASS EXPLOSION!

Marley, like us, looooves ice cream! It only makes sense that we share with him when we have some. Last night I think I went a little overboard and gave him too much. How do we know this, one might ask...

Well, I got up this morning only to find some 'residue' on the floor in the short 'hallway' that is located between our bedroom and bathroom. I had no idea what it was but thought, wow, it looks like something exploded. Looks like I was right! That something that exploded was Marley's ass! lol. Poor guy. :s

All I can say is, that little critter has great aiming skills because there was no way I would have thought it had come from him if it wasn't for Keith noticing there was similar 'residue' on the wall of his cage.

It's clear that Marley takes after Keith in most cases, but as it turns out...he reacts the same to ice cream as I do. Unfortunately I think Marley and I agree that ice cream is sssooo worth it.lol. Hence, here we are, debating whether or not to have ice cream, yet again.

Lesson NOT learned.lol.

Procrastination baby - it really turns me oooonnn.

This afternoon I had a HUGE burst of energy and devised a 'not so devious' plan to try that recipe for homemade marshmallows tonight. See:
http://marriagemadnessandmore.blogspot.com/2010/07/homemade-marshmallows-who-knew.html

Then, the feeling passed quickly as the afternoon carried on. So instead, I made a DELISCIOUS pasta dish and my dear Auntie Pegster joined us for a delictable supper and even more delictable wine.

I saved everyone from having to see boring photos documenting my every move because I was running behind and just wanted to get 'er done and EAT! But next time my dear blogfriends - YOU, are in trouble because chances are, I will take photos. Why? Because it was ssssssssssssssssssooooooooo mouthwatering good and ofcourse, IMADORK!

Here's what you need!

1) Pasta (pretty much any kind you like but I use Multigrain Fusilli)
2) 2-3 cloves of Garlic
3) Approx. half of a White Onion
4) Black Olives
5) Green Olives
6) Olive Oil
7) Approx. a teaspoon or so of butter or margarine

If you know how to heat up pasta and chop the remaining ingredients up (aside from the olive oil and butter or margarine - pfft, obviously), you are GOOD to GO my friends!

For those that aren't sure - boil the pasta in one pot. In a another pan such as a frying pan or saute pan, put it on medium and throw in all the chopped ingredients along with the olive oil and butter or margarine to sizzle until the pasta is done cooking. Once the pasta is boiled, drain those fusilli buggers out in a strainer and put back in pot. Fill your plate or bowl up with the pasta and drizzle the sauce over top and mix in accordingly. :) ENJOY - your tastebuds WILL thank you!

You can easily adjust the ingredients accordingly and even take some stuff out or add some stuff in but I wouldn't recommend it because it just might not be as good without! It is like SO yum I suggest everyone run out RIGHT NOW and go buy the ingredients and get to it!

Well - what are you waiting for??? lol.

ps. In yooooo' FACE Chef Gordon Ramsey! HA!

That adventures of the....wait for it.....wait for it....

CHERRY PITTER (or OLIVE PITTER) but for the sake of this blog, I will refer to it as the CHERY PITTER!

I'm not sure if this makes me lame and just further proves that I'm getting older but last weekend my aunt did a little supper in honor of Keith and I getting married. I'll get back to the 'lame' and 'getting older' part in a minute. But why so late in the game (it's only been 7 months) would someone have a supper for us, one might ask - because my grandma said so, that's why.lol. Now, let's not get carried away. It's not like we got all dolled up or anything. On the menu was veggies with hot dogs or hamburgers - a meal fit for a newly wed couple and guests (it works, right?). lol.

Anyway, my dear old uncle Darcie and Aunt Elaine got us a cherry pitter among a few other great things. Stay tuned for my next adventure with the MELON BALLER! And no, it's not as kinky as it sounds but BOY am I ever going to have fun with it when I get around to trying it out.

So here we are, back at why I'm calling myself lame AND old. Oh, and before I forget, I want to say thanks to Darcie and Elaine as they have included me in a tradition I'm very proud to be part of. The tradition being, no bride should be without a CHERRY PITTER or, a MELON BALLER! :)

Now, I'm no Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen but there's two things I like. One, being cherries and two, being things that make doing other things easier. The whole point of using a cherry pitter is for making pies which would be the case if I were, oh, let's say Betty Crocker. BUUUUUUUUUUT, I'm not - I'm me and I like being a dork and using my spare time to do things like documenting my every second of pitting the cherries.
Oh whoa is me!!! Where is the 21 year old blond Kim that would be out till 2am the night before and too hung over to do something like this AND the Kim that would make fun of this 31 year old Kim that documented her Sunday evening of cherry pitting?!

You know what the really sad part is?! I didn't do this for PIIIIEEEE - I did this for my teeth. WHICH, just adds to the fact that I'm getting older whether I'd like to admit it or not. Those cherry pits can be hazardous to my teeth and I have no shame in that. Okay, maybe I have a little shame. Now excuse me while I go take a nap. :p
